Newcomer GUS sets out to make an indelible mark on music

Born and raised in the heart of Louisiana’s Creole and Cajun country, newcomer GUS (an acronym for “Grind Until Successful”) just dropped his first project, “T.O.D.”, a four-track EP that definitely reflects his lyrical prowess.

In recent years, GUS had the opportunity to travel the world, using each experience to broaden his horizon and finely hone his songwriting skills. It is evident that his style is heavily influenced by legends like Lil Wayne, Kevin Gates, OutKast, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and other lyrical beasts.

MoCity releases “Benchwarmers”

MoCity

“I AM A TEAM PLAYER ABOVE ALL ELSE. I THINK THE WORLD VIEWS MILWAUKEE AS A BENCHWARMER CITY, AND I WANT TO SHOW THEM THAT WE’RE JUST AS TALENTED AS ANY CITY, IF NOT MORE TALENTED.” – MOCITY

Milwaukee native, MoCity, follows up his first studio album, P4TG (Pray For The Gemini), with Benchwarmers. MoCity stated that P4TG was more about him as an individual while Benchwarmers is about where he is from, and all the people who’ve helped him put this album together.

When asked about what makes this album different from the first album, Mocity responded, “I had more fun with this one, but I still stayed close to my roots. I got headphone music and I got riding music, there is something on here for everyone.”

Slimm Body – “Cartier Visions” (EP)

Cartier Visions

Nashville standout Slimm Body just dropped his new EP entitled “Cartier Visions”. Slimm has quite the interesting story that includes being near fatally shot in 2016 to currently fighting an unjust homicide chart. He is in the process of releasing new music, visuals and merchandise. His EP symbolizes the struggles and hardships, as well as his effort to positively overcome the hood and the poverty and violence found within. When asked what he hopes fans take away from the Cartier Visions songs/project, Slimm answers with this:

“Progression. From where I’m from to where I am now… When you close your eyes you see visions (sights, sounds, smells, feelings, etc…) from your past, present and HOPEFULLY your future… Cartier Visions represents coming from the dirt, and even from adolescence knowing that one day you will be living finely/ seeing things that people from the bottom never get to witness.”
